I have 7+ points on my license.
Recently I was pulled over for expired tabs (whoops didn't have money to update them but did shortly thereafter). Unluckily, I didn't have my insurance card with either. Well, that's no big deal: take it to the court showing you had insurance just didnt have it with you and a $160 ticket goes to $25. No problem.
Wrong.
Weeks later I get a letter from the state saying that because I had 7+ points and was Convicted of having No Proof of Insurance, i owed $200.00 more.
What's baffling is that, clearly, i had proof of insurance, just not with me in the car at that time.
So is the law in Michigan 'no proof of insurance while in the car' or what?
It's baffling and it's bullshit. It makes no sense to me.
What's worse is that I'm expecting I'll get another of the same letter for the other ticket i got for having expired plates.
